brendan’s memoir

Hi, I’m Brendan. This is my journal. You can call it a blog if you like, but I like to say journal. Or website. It doesn’t really matter.

The things I’m about to write down here are not important, and maybe not interesting, but maybe if you like my journal then you’ll like this too.

I’m agnostic, so I don’t subscribe to any religion but I am open to the idea that any one of them could have been right all along. I’m a bit of a hippy, but only in that my life revolves around music and love. I’m heterosexual, not that it matters. I’m not addicted to facebook, but I am addicted to procrastination. I like to take MySpace surveys because it feels like someone cares enough to interview me, but other than that I have no interest in the site. I’ve never gotten high, but I do go to high school. I skateboard sometimes. I play soccer occasionally. I have asthma, but it never mattered much. I love the sound of rain falling on a roof above my head. I write songs when no one else is around, and sing them when I can pretend no one else is around. When I’m at home (and awake), my stereo hardly ever spends more than an hour at rest.

I’m single for the time being, but I don’t mind. I’m comfortable with who I am. Sometimes I’m a sweetheart, but sometimes I’m a little full of myself. I don’t really know why I keep writing in this journal, but I enjoy it and my friends seem to as well, so I do.

I started blogging on Blogger est. 2004 with only a slight idea of what I was doing. I continued to disgrace the internet with my writing until around 2006. From then on my writing gradually improved until it became the slightly less ugly thing it is now. In the time frame between the beginning of my journal until now I have…

1. Started my blog on Blogger as the Enigma blog, to accompany an abomination of a site I had.
2. Made another blog on Blogger as my personal one, with a ton of snippets and linking posts. It was called Mac + Google= Awesome, and it was possibly the worst (Second worst, sorry. First was Enigma.) thing to ever hit the internet.
3. Switched the name of my blog so something don’t even remember now.
4. Realized how awful Enigma was, and killed it along with its blog. Maybe I won’t go to internet hell now.
5. Moved my blog to WordPress.com as swiftlab. It’s still there, if you want to look at it. It wasn’t as awful as my older ones, but it was still pretty bad. [swiftlab.wordpress.com]
6. Switched back to Blogger, which was in Beta by then. Called it Pixelnation.
7. Moved back to WordPress.com, and changed the name to Just Like Intelligence.
8. Imported the posts from Pixelnation. About a hundred or so.
9. Applied to and was accepted to Random Shapes. [Guess I must not be that bad, eh?]
10. Changed the name a few more times, then settled on “brendan’s memoir.”
